We watched a brief video and used the handout below to guide our discussion. Takeaways:
Paula shared a prop containing a variety of symbols for how we might reset. Making a box of this nature with kids might help them to see that we can reset in many different ways.

Possible topics for upcoming sessions Perfectionism Clarity, decision making and latitude around expectations Adult bullying Routines, compliance and fixing Reluctant kids who deflect recognitions Portfolio and “I’m the bad kid” perceptions May: Summer strategies Energy, self-care, reset strategies Review of recognition types Developmental levels and what to expect Family systems, tag teaming and fostering participation Teaching kids emotional language Include older kids at part of a session! Attendees: 4 Focus: Developmental Stages During this session we reviewed documents by the CDC with attention to the ages of the children of those in attendance. We emphasized the importance of looking at stages your child has passed through for evidence of growth. You might also look ahead to give yourself peace of mind as well as to begin the baby stepping process of guiding your child's social emotional development. Below is a link to the 16 page document Positive Parenting Tips for Healthy Child Development. For each 1-3 year span the headings include: Developmental Milestones, Positive Parenting Tips, Child Safety First, and Healthy Bodies. Starting at age 6 the developmental milestones section includes Emotional/Social changes and Thinking and Learning. The files have been combined here for ease. You can also access separate documents at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website. https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/childdevelopment/freematerials.html

A reminder: There is a Nurtured Heart Approach Facebook group you can join.
Also, we had 4 volunteers for childcare!! Thank you Liz, Julia, Kara and Ashley!!! Watch the video below to help you step up to meet your goals and follow through on your intentions. This video was shared in the January 18, 2018 VASD Wellness Wednesday newsletter. Venus Washington is a V-Fitt instructor, VASD substitute teacher, personal trainer and local business owner of R U Fit. 8 Attendees (including kids) Focus: Joy and Gratitude We had the rare opportunity to meet with one family, to include the children, and focus on Stand 2. We played some games, and when the children played independently, we reviewed the the intentions: baby steps, toll taker (and the dot), miracles from molecules. While we had intended for this to be a "make and take" session, we sent the family home with ideas and some materials instead. In addition, several ideas for engaging in playful family activities were shared.
